Mariya Papazova isa partner in PPG Lawyers and attorney at law -expert with more than fifteen years of experience in the field of competition and consumer protection. In her practice she provides consultations on wide range of subjects, to both national and multinational companies, in sectors, such as: fuels, energy, wholesale and retail trade with food and non-food goods, telecommunications, electronics, media, insurance, pharmacy, transport, manufacturing and trade with paper and cardboards etc. For her clients in these sectors Mariya prepares competition compliance programs and conducts compliance due diligences and trainings. In the course of her work, first as an expert at the Competition Protection Commission (CPC) and then as consultant, she has gained extensive experience also in the field of state aid.
Mariya represents successfully her clients before CPC and the Supreme Administrative Court in cartel proceedings, abuse of dominant position and unfair competition as well as sector analyses proceedings. During the years she has worked on the assessment and notification to CPC of number of mergers. Recognition of her professional qualifications is her yearly ranking in Chambers Europe Guide – Bulgaria, Competition/Antitrust.
She has graduated in law at Sofia University, Bulgaria (Master of Laws, 1998). She has acquiredsecondmaster degree from Friedrich-Alexander Universität Erlangen Nürnberg, Germany (LL.M., 2003) with master thesis on ‘Relations between EU and German Merger Control’. Mariya has widen her qualification in competition law with postgraduate qualification in Economics for Competition Law in King’s College, London, UK (Postgraduate diploma, 2013). During her work for CPC she made an internship in DG Competition in European Commission.
Mariya is author of number of articles and publications in international and Bulgarian issues on different subjects in the field of competition and consumer protection.
