Mariya Papazova is a partner in PPG Lawyers and attorney at law – an expert with close to twenty years of experience in the field of competition and consumer protection. In her practice, she provides consultations on wide range of subject matters, to both national and multinational companies, in sectors such as: fuels, energy, wholesale and retail trade with food and non-food goods, telecommunications and media, pharmacy etc. For her clients in these sectors, Mariya prepares competition compliance programs and conducts compliance due diligences as well as trainings.
Mariya has successfully represented her clients before the national competition commission (CPC) and the court in cartel and concerted practices proceedings, abuse of dominant position and unfair competition as well as sector analyses proceedings. During the years she has worked on the assessment and notification to CPC of a number of mergers. Recognition of her professional qualifications is noted in her yearly ranking in Chambers Europe Guide – Bulgaria, Competition/Antitrust.
She graduated in law from Sofia University, Bulgaria (Master of Laws, 1998). She acquired a second master degree from Friedrich-Alexander Universität Erlangen Nürnberg, Germany (LL.M., 2003), where she specializes in competition law. Mariya has widen her qualification in competition law with postgraduate qualification in Economics for Competition Law in King’s College, London, UK (Postgraduate diploma, 2013).
Before she joined PPG Lawyers team, Mariya gained experience in the field of competition law and consumer protection law through her work as a state expert in CPC and as a lawyer in highly regarded international and national law firms. During her time at the CPC, she conducted an internship in DG Competition in the European Commission.
Mariya is author of number of articles and publications in reputable international and national editions on different subjects in the field of competition and consumer protection.
